Operating System

An Operating System is a software which acts as a bridge between the user and

the computer system. It is the first software which has to be installed onto the
computer.

Functions of an Operating System:

1. Controlling Hardware: Controls all the hardware parts of the computer.

2. Running Software: Runs application software such as MS Word, MS Paint,

LOGO, Games, etc.

3. Booting: The process of starting and restarting the computer.

Examples: Microsoft Windows, Linux, MacOS, Android, etc.
