The CPU has two buttons:

• On/Off button

• Restart button

Main Components of CPU:

1. ALU (Arithmetic Logic Unit): Performs arithmetic operations (addition,

subtraction, multiplication, division) and logical operations.

2. CU (Control Unit): Controls all the operations.

3. MU (Memory Unit): Stores the data either temporarily or permanently as
desired by the user.

Mouse

A computer mouse points to various objects on
the computer screen. Therefore, it is known as a

pointing device.

Features of Mouse:

• Easy to use

• Increases speed and makes selection easier

• Reduces the task of remembering as well as typing commands

A mouse has three buttons:

• Left Mouse Button

• Right Mouse Button

• Scroll Button

Additional Parts of a Computer

• Printer: Prints information and pictures on paper.

• Scanner: Copies a picture or text into the computer in a way that the

computer understands.

How does a Computer Work?

The working of a computer is based on the principle:
