Active and Passive voice
u Two large eyes were looking at me steadily.
(doer) (action) (receiver)
u When the doer of the action is the subject of the sentence, we say that the sentence
is in the active voice. The receiver comes after the action.
The young man had been pushed by the crowd.
(subject) (action) (doer)
When the action in a sentence is done to the subject, we say that the sentence is in the
passive voice. Sometimes, there is no doer in the sentence.

u A beautiful picture was hung on the wall.

u Water is being pumped from the tubewell to every farm.
