Articles
‘A’, ‘an’ and ‘the’ are called articles. We use a or an with singular nouns that we can count.
We use a or an when we mean any one–not a specific one.
For example— a peacock’s call
an old pine tree
• We use a before words that begin with a consonant sound.
• An is used before a word beginning with a vowel sound.
We use the when we talk about a kind or a class of nouns. The is also used for specific
things or when something is one of a kind.
For example— the forest the Moon
the hill the Sun
