                                                Subject-verb Agreement


            Subject-verb  agreement  means  that  the  subject  and  the  verb  in  a  sentence  must  match  in
            number. This means if the subject is singular, the verb must be singular. If the subject is plural ,
            the verb must be plural.
            1.   Singular Subject

                 A singular subject is a noun that refers to one person, place, thing, or idea.

                 The verb that follows a singular subject must also be singular.
            Examples:

                 •   The girl (singular subject) sleeps (singular verb) on the bed.

                 •   The teacher (singular subject) explains (singular verb) the lesson clearly.
            2.   Plural Subject

                 A plural subject is a noun that refers to more than one person, place, thing, or idea.

                 The verb that follows a plural subject must also be plural.
            Examples:

                 •   The boys (plural subject) play (plural verb) in the park every afternoon.

                 •    The dogs (plural subject) bark (plural verb) loudly at strangers.
