9 The Great Personalities

Identify and name the following great personalities of India :

1. He is known as the ‘Father of the Nation’. He led the
independence movement based on the principles of truth
and non-violence.

2. He was the first Prime Minister of independent India and

a lawyer by profession. His birthday, 14th November, is
celebrated as ‘Children’s Day’.

3. He was a revolutionary leader of the freedom struggle. He

believed in the principle of ‘tit-for-tat’ against British rule and
played a significant role in India’s independence.

4. He was popularly known as ‘Netaji’. He founded the Azad
Hind Fauj to fight against British rule and was also a
member of the Indian National Congress.
