2 Predators Rule!

A predator is an animal that hunts, catches, and eats other animals for food. Some

predators don’t rely on speed or strength — they use clever and unusual hunting
tricks. Identify the animals below using the help box.

                               1. It shoots water at insects on low leaves to knock
them into water, then swims over to eat them.

                                  2. Hanging from a cave ceiling, this insect stabs
flying bats with venomous claws and eats them whole.

                               3. With the fastest punch (50 mph), it smashes
prey using its powerful clubbed arms.

                            4. It hides behind a camouflaged door and grabs insects
that walk by, pulling them into its tunnel.

                                5. In the deep sea, it uses red light (invisible to
most creatures) to spot and trap prey in the dark.

                                  6. It places its tail on one side of a fish and head on
the other—when it flicks, the fish swims into its mouth.

                               7. It chases sharks to the surface, flips them
upside down to paralyze them, then enjoys a safe
                               meal.
