Preface
In today’s academic world, understanding computers is no longer a luxury—it’s a
necessity. With this in mind, we have developed the Digital Kids series for Classes 1 to 8.
The title itself reflects our aim: to introduce learners to the foundations of computers and
their wide-ranging applications.
You may have heard terms like Artificial Intelligence, Social Engineering, Cloud
Computing, App Development, or Raspberry Pi. While such jargon can often sound confusing,
this series breaks down these concepts into simple, clear lessons—just as smooth as
watching a video stream without buffering.
The series is designed around the latest technologies, software, and operating
systems, including Microsoft Office 2021 and Windows 11. It is aligned with the CBSE
curriculum and developed in accordance with NCF and NEP guidelines. In addition, it
covers modern tools and platforms such as Scratch, Animate, Photoshop, Python, and
more.
To make learning engaging and visually appealing, we have blended text with
illustrations, diagrams, and step-by-step explanations. This approach makes even
complex computer concepts easy to grasp. The examples and terminology used are
practical—relevant both in the classroom and at home.
Every chapter is enriched with projects and activities designed to spark curiosity,
build confidence, and encourage students to experiment on their own. Each project
begins with a real-world problem and walks learners through its complete solution,
highlighting every essential task along the way. The exercises at the end of each chapter
further challenge students to explore, apply, and think critically.
This series equips learners with all the essential software knowledge they need to
stay at par with global standards.
I sincerely hope this book fulfills its purpose and exceeds your expectations. Your
constructive feedback and suggestions are always welcome to help us make this series
even more relevant, comprehensive, and useful—for both teachers and students alike.
