v The verbs cried, dawned, and yelled show actions that have already
happened in the past or some time before.
v We add –ed to verbs to talk about things or actions that took place in
the past.
v However there are some words that change their form completely in
the past. We do not add –ed to them. For example,
cry–cried, try–tried, swim– swam, shine-shone, run-ran and think–
thought.
