Read the following sentences.
The rain is beautiful. (Assertive Sentence)
How beautiful is the rain! (Exclamatory Sentence)
How the rain is beautiful? (Interrogative Sentence)
Always welcome the rain. (Imperative Sentence)
1. A sentence that makes a statement is called an assertive sentence. It ends
with a full stop (.).
2. A sentence that expresses strong feelings and ends with an exclamation
mark (!) is called an exclamatory sentence. An exclamatory sentence usually
begins with what or how.
3. A sentence that asks a question is called an interrogative sentence. An
interrogative sentence may begin with words such as what, when, which,
who, whom, whose, where, why or how. It ends with a question mark (?).
