This is a story of King of Scotland, Robert Bruce who took courage

from the spider’s perseverance, fought seventh time, and won.

There was once a King of Scotland whose name was Robert Bruce. He was both
brave and wise. However, the times in which he lived were wild and rude. The

King of England was at war with him. He had led a great army into Scotland to
drive Bruce out of his land.

Many battles had been fought. King Bruce led his brave little army six times

against his foes. However, six times he faced defeat and his men were

beaten and driven away. After the end of six wars, King
            Bruce’s soldiers were disheartened. Slowly,

they split up and got scattered. King
Bruce feared for his life and was

forced to hide himself in the
            woods.

wild and rude — disturbed, with constant fighting going on; foes — enemies; defeat —

to win victory over; disheartened — had lost hope; scattered — spread here and there
