11 Brave Wilson

This is the story of Wilson Tell who is brave and freedom-loving. He
helped his country to get free from cruel rule of Duke of Austria.
One day Wilson was walking towards the market in the town with
his son Wren. Suddenly a soldier caught him by the arm and said
angrily, ‘‘Salute!’’ There were a number of Austrian soldiers in
the market.
In those days Switzerland was under the
cruel rule of the Duke of Austria. The
Austrians cruelly oppressed the Swiss.
The Swiss were freedom loving
people. Wilson was a brave, bold
and freedom loving man in
Switzerland. He was tall and
strong.
There was always a look of bright
happiness in his eyes. He lived
in the mountains of Switzerland. He
was the best bowman and a skilful
sailor.
The cap of the Duke of Austria was
put up on a long pole in the market
place; every one who passed through
the road, had to salute the cap. Meanwhile Wilson was surrounded by
a crowd of people.
