This is the story of Wilson Tell who is brave and freedom-loving. He
helped his country to get free from cruel rule of Duke of Austria.

One day Wilson was walking towards the market in the town with
his son Wren. Suddenly a soldier caught him by the arm and said

angrily, ‘‘Salute!’’ There were a number of Austrian soldiers in

            the market.

In those days Switzerland was under the
cruel rule of the Duke of Austria. The

            Austrians cruelly oppressed the Swiss.
            The Swiss were freedom loving

people. Wilson was a brave, bold
            and freedom loving man in

            Switzerland. He was tall and
            strong.

There was always a look of bright
happiness in his eyes. He lived

in the mountains of Switzerland. He
was the best bowman and a skilful

            sailor.

The cap of the Duke of Austria was
put up on a long pole in the market

place; every one who passed through
the road, had to salute the cap. Meanwhile Wilson was surrounded by

            a crowd of people.
