                                            Active voice and Passive voice


            The voice of a sentence is the structure or word order within the sentence.
            Active Voice

                 •    In active voice, the subject or doer comes first, followed by a verb.

                 •    A verb is said to be in the active voice when the subject does something or is the doer
                      of the action.
            Example: Yoga improves flexibility and strengthens muscles.

            Passive Voice

                 •    In the passive voice, the action becomes the focus of the sentence rather than the
                      doer.
                 •    The subject or does can be omitted or it can be placed in a prepositional phrase that is

                      by+subject
                 •    A verb is said to be in the passive voice when something is done to the subject or the
                      subject receives some action.

            Example: Flexibility is improved and muscles are strengthened by yoga.

            A.  Identify whether the following sentences are in the active or passive voice.

                 1.  The manager will review the report.
                 2.  The letter was sent by Priya.

                 3.  The cat chased the mouse.
                 4.  The flowers were watered by the gardener.

                 5.   Meditation is enjoyed by many people for its calming effects.

            B.  Identify the voice in the sentence. Then, change the voice and rewrite them.

                 1.  The mother opened the door.



                 2.  I bought a new car.
