Formation:
Affirmative : Subject + has/have + been + present participle (verb+ing)
Negative : Subject + has/have + not + been + present participle (verb+ing)
Interrogative : Has/Have + subject + been + present participle (verb+ing)?
Examples:
Affirmative : Aman has been reading for two hours.
Negative : They have not been playing football.
Interrogative : Has Raman been working on the project all day?
Past Perfect Continuous Tense
The past perfect continuous tense describes an action that was ongoing in the past and was
completed before another past action or time. It emphasises the duration of the activity up to
a certain point in the past.
Formation:
Affirmative : Subject + had + been + present participle (verb+ing)
Negative : Subject + had + not + been + present participle (verb+ing)
Interrogative : Had + subject + been + present participle (verb+ing)?
Examples:
Affirmative : Aman had been reading for two hours before dinner.
Negative : They had not been playing football before it started raining.
Interrogative : Had Raman been working on the project all night?
Future Perfect Continuous Tense
The future perfect continuous tense describes an action that will have been ongoing for a period
of time by a specific point in the future. It emphasises the duration of the activity up to that
future point.
Formation:
Affirmative : Subject + will + have + been + present participle (verb+ing)
Negative : Subject + will + not + have + been + present participle (verb+ing)
Interrogative : Will + subject + have + been + present participle (verb+ing)?
Examples:
Affirmative : Aman will have been reading for two hours by the time you arrive.
Negative : They will not have been playing football for long.
Interrogative : Will Raman have been working on the project for a week by then?
