3. Magic Milk
Materials: Milk, Food coloring, Dish soap, A shallow dish
Instructions:
1. Pour milk into the shallow dish.
2. Drop different colors of food coloring into the milk.
3. Dip a cotton swab into dish soap and then touch the
surface of the milk with it.
Explanation: The soap breaks the surface tension of the
milk, causing the food coloring to swirl and create a
colorful effect.
4. Homemade Lava Lamp
Materials: Clear plastic bottle, Water, Vegetable oil, Food coloring,
Alka-Seltzer tablets
Instructions:
1. Fill the bottle about one-quarter full with water and add a few
drops of food coloring.
2. Fill the rest of the bottle with vegetable oil, leaving some space
at the top.
3. Drop in an Alka-Seltzer tablet and watch the lava lamp effect.
Explanation: The Alka-Seltzer reacts with the water to produce
carbon dioxide gas, which creates bubbles that move through the
oil.
5. Floating Egg
Materials: A glass of water, Salt, An egg
Instructions:
1. Fill the glass with water.
2. Gently place the egg in the water (it should sink).
3. Add salt to the water and stir until it dissolves.
4. Add more salt until the egg starts to float.
Explanation: Adding salt increases the water’s density,
making it buoyant enough to support the egg.
These experiments are not only fun but also educational,
helping children learn about chemistry, physics, and
biology in a hands-on way.
