4 Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM)

Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM) is a government initiative launched by the Government of India to celebrate and
commemorate 75 years of progressive India and the glorious history of its people, culture, and achievements. The initiative,
which began in 2021, is intended to run through 2023 and focuses on creating a national awakening and pride in India’s
rich heritage, history, and achievements, while also highlighting the vision for the future.

Key Pillars of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav

1. Freedom Struggle: This pillar focuses on the stories of unsung heroes
of India’s independence movement. It highlights events and stories
that showcase India’s long struggle for freedom, bringing them to
the forefront for public awareness through exhibitions, storytelling
sessions, documentaries, and performances.

2. Ideas@75: This pillar aims to promote and celebrate ideas and
achievements that have contributed to India’s growth and development
over the past 75 years. Various campaigns under this theme encourage
citizens to share their ideas for building a stronger and more prosperous
India in the future. Youth engagement through hackathons, ideation
challenges, and essay competitions is a key focus.

3. Actions@75: This pillar encourages citizens to take actions that
contribute to nation-building. This includes campaigns focused
on cleanliness, sustainability, and social welfare. It also promotes
activities like tree plantations, cleanliness drives, and volunteering for
community development, emphasizing collective action for a better
tomorrow.

4. Achievements@75: This pillar showcases India’s milestones and
achievements over the last 75 years across various sectors, such as
science and technology, agriculture, space exploration, defense,
sports, and culture. Exhibitions, documentaries, and media campaigns
highlight these accomplishments, aiming to instill a sense of pride and
inspire the next generation.

5. Resolve@75: This pillar emphasizes the future goals and aspirations of
the nation. It focuses on setting a roadmap for the next 25 years, leading
up to the 100th anniversary of independence in 2047. Discussions,
seminars, and campaigns under this theme aim to bring together
citizens to contribute to a shared vision of India’s future.
