Internet is a telecommunication network which uses telephone lines, cables, satellites,
and wireless connections to connect different computers and other devices to the World
Wide Web (www). It is a wired or wireless mode of communication through which one
can receive and transmit information that can be used for single or multiple operations.
The word 'Internet' comes from the combination of two words - interconnection and
network. The 'Internet' refers to the global communication system, including hardware and
infrastructure, and the 'World Wide Web' is one of the services provided by the internet.
History of Internet
The Internet started in the late 1960s as a project by the United States government to
connect computers so they could share information. It was
first called ARPANET and was used mainly by researchers
and scientists. Over time, more computers and networks
joined together, creating a bigger network. In the 1990s,
the World Wide Web was invented, making it easier for
people to use the Internet to browse websites, send emails,
and share information. Since then, the Internet has grown
rapidly and changed how we communicate, learn, and work
every day.
