‘‘What is that?’’ asked the Country
Mouse.
‘‘Run! It is the cat,’’ said the City Mouse.
The two mice ran back into the hole.
‘‘This is terrible,’’ said the Country Mouse to the City Mouse.
‘‘Let us not go to the kitchen again,’’ he said. ‘‘Don’t worry. We will
go to the cellar next time,’’ said the City Mouse.
After some time, the two mice went into the cellar.
There was a big can of
cheese. ‘‘Yummy!’’ said the
mice.
The Country Mouse was just
about to put his teeth into
the cheese when the City
Mouse shouted, ‘‘Stop! It
is a trap!’’
The little Country Mouse
asked, ‘‘What is a trap?’’
‘‘That thing is a trap,’’ said
the City Mouse. When you
touch the cheese, the door
will close, and you will be
caught.’’
