‘‘What is that?’’ asked the Country

            Mouse.

‘‘Run! It is the cat,’’ said the City Mouse.

The two mice ran back into the hole.

‘‘This is terrible,’’ said the Country Mouse to the City Mouse.

‘‘Let us not go to the kitchen again,’’ he said. ‘‘Don’t worry. We will

go to the cellar next time,’’ said the City Mouse.

After some time, the two mice went into the cellar.

There was a big can of

            cheese. ‘‘Yummy!’’ said the

            mice.

            The Country Mouse was just

about to put his teeth into

            the cheese when the City

            Mouse shouted, ‘‘Stop! It

            is a trap!’’

            The little Country Mouse

            asked, ‘‘What is a trap?’’

‘‘That thing is a trap,’’ said

            the City Mouse. When you

            touch the cheese, the door

will close, and you will be

            caught.’’
