Damon:           There must be something wrong. I know Pythias is a true

                             friend.

            Dionysius:  You should learn not to trust anyone. You have only two

                             hours left. If he does not return by then, you must die.

            Damon:           I will do so happily, Your Majesty!

            Narrator:  Two hours passed very quickly. Pythias did not come. The

                             soldiers came to Damon to the place of hanging.


            Pythias:         (running in) Stop! I am back. Some robbers caught me. Let

                             him go! It is I who must die! Thank God, I am on time!

            Narrator:  Everyone was quiet. They could not believe that these two

                             friends were willing to die for each other.

            Dionysius:  Today, for the first time in my life, I have understood the







                 willing — ready to do something
