What is Rhyme Scheme?
When the last sound of two or more words is the same, those words are
termed ‘Rhyming Words’.
Examples : green – seen, nest – rest
Read this popular Nursery Rhyme.
Twinkle twinkle little star, (A)
How I wonder what you are. (A)
Up above the world so high, (B)
Like a diamond in the sky. (B)
In the given poem the last word of the first line (star) rhymes with the last word
of the second line (are). Similarly the last word of the third line (high), rhymes
with that of the fourth (sky). The rhyme scheme thus followed is AA BB.
