                                               Past Continuous Tense


            Read the sentences below.

            1.  A stick is walking along the road.


                 A stick was walking along the road.

            2.  The frogs are hopping around.

                 The frogs were hopping around.

            v  These sentences show actions that were happening in the past. They

                   are in the past continuous tense.

            v  We use was/were + verb + -ing to form the past continuous tense.

            Fill in the blanks with ‘was’ or ‘were’. Also add verb given in the brackets

            with -ing form.


            1.  The dogs                          for food.                                                 (bark)

            2.  The girl                        her hair.                                                  (comb)

            3.  The monkey                             the tiger.                                          (tease)
