She was a young Jewish girl who went into hiding
during World War II to escape the Nazis. Given a diary
at age 13, she wrote about her life, fears, and hopes.
Sadly, she died in a concentration camp, but her diary
was published by her father as “The Diary of a Young
Girl” and has inspired millions around the world.

Born in France in 1809, he became blind at age
3. As a student, he invented a system of raised
dots that allowed blind people to read and write
using their fingers. This system is called Braille,
and it is still used around the world today. He
began teaching others at age 19.

Born in 1997 in Pakistan, she stood up for girls’ education
when the Taliban tried to ban girls from going to school.
She was attacked but survived and continued her fight.
Today, she is a global voice for education and women’s
rights and became the youngest person to win the Nobel
Peace Prize.
