Amber Eyes
5 Amber eyes have a golden or coppery hue due
to the presence of a specific pigment called
pheomelanin. They are a variation of brown
eyes and are quite rare.
Gray Eyes
6 Gray eyes are very rare and are similar to
blue eyes but with a slightly higher amount
of melanin. The grayish hue is due to the way
light is scattered in the eye’s stroma.
Eye Color Changes with Age
7 Eye color can change as people age. For example,
some individuals may experience a gradual
darkening of eye color due to increased melanin
production or changes in the eye’s structure.
Brown Eyes and Sunlight
8 Brown-eyed individuals often have a protective
advantage against bright sunlight and glare
due to the higher melanin content, which helps
reduce light sensitivity.
Red or Violet Eyes
9 Red or violet eyes are extremely rare and
usually occur in individuals with albinism,
a condition that results in a lack of pigment.
The red or violet appearance is due to the
visibility of blood vessels in the iris.
