they were a crucial step in making computing more accessible beyond massive corporations.

            Examples: PDP-8 and VAX series.

            Mainframe Computers

Mainframe computers are large, powerful, and
expensive systems designed to handle vast amounts of
data and support thousands of users simultaneously.

While not as fast as supercomputers for a single task,
mainframes excel at multitasking and are used by big
organizations like banks, insurance companies, and

government agencies to manage large databases and
            process millions of transactions daily.

They are known for their high reliability, security, and ability to handle continuous, high-
            volume operations.

            Examples: IBM zSeries and System/360.

            Supercomputers

Supercomputers are the largest and most powerful
computers in the world, capable of performing

trillions of calculations per second. These machines
are incredibly fast and are primarily used for
complex scientific and engineering tasks, such as

            weather forecasting, climate modeling, nuclear
research, and molecular analysis. Due to their
immense processing power, they are invaluable for
solving problems that require huge computational
resources. Because of their enormous size and high cost, they were typically utilized by

large government agencies, research institutions, and major corporations. IBM Summit,
Fugaku, and Tianhe-2 are prime examples of supercomputers used for large-scale scientific
            research and complex simulations.
